About Ask Woody HVAC
An independent bid-analysis tool for homeowners — built on a 30-year HVAC career, with no contractor affiliations, no dealer kickbacks, and no sales pressure.
The Expert Behind Woody
Ask Woody HVAC is built on a 30-year HVAC career. "Woody" is how three decades of field experience — installations, service repairs, corporate engineering, and thousands of homeowner conversations — shows up inside the app.
Woody started hands-on, balancing installation work with technical service repairs and building a well-rounded foundation early. He later moved into a corporate engineering role for a leading HVAC manufacturer. The engineering work was rewarding, but after four years he realized his real passion was in the field, working directly with everyday homeowners.
When he returned, he saw a systemic problem: sales representatives routinely overwhelmed customers with dense terminology just to hit targets. Watching homeowners get taken advantage of sparked a new mission — and over three decades, Woody has refused to upsell a single person or business.
That exact commitment to transparency is now coded into Ask Woody HVAC. And that 30-year pattern recognition is precisely what catches the red flags in your contractor's bid.
"Watching homeowners get taken advantage of sparked a new mission. Over three decades refusing to upsell a single person — that commitment is now coded into every line of this app."
Why We Built It
Replacing a furnace or air conditioner is a $10,000–$20,000 decision, and the bids are confusing by design. Three quotes for "the same" system can vary by thousands — because the equipment tiers differ, line items go missing, scope gets padded, and upsells get buried in the total. Most homeowners have no way to tell which bid is actually the best deal. We built Ask Woody HVAC to be the honest advocate in your corner: paste in your quotes and get a plain-English breakdown of what each one really contains and which one to take.
How Woody Stays Independent
No affiliations
No contractor partnerships, no dealer kickbacks, no manufacturer sponsorships. Woody doesn't get paid based on which bid you choose.
Grounded in AHRI data
Equipment efficiency and matched-system checks are verified against AHRI-certified data — the industry's gold standard — not marketing claims.
Specs over sales talk
The analysis focuses strictly on equipment specs, performance data, and true cost of ownership — the things a sales rep would rather you not scrutinize.
